Ludovic ALLEAUME
Ludovic Alleaume is born 24 March 1859 Angers, Maine-et-Loire . He is the son of Augustus Symphorien Alleaume (1821-1895)
and Rose Hode´e (1827-1909) . His father is the author of Patents of Invention, containing watches, published in 1873 . Student
of the Regional School of Fine Arts of Angers from the artist Euge`ne Brunclair he became apprentice painters decorators in
Angers. He then joined the School of Fine Arts in Paris where he was admitted in the workshops of Ernest He´bert and
Luc-Olivier Merson ). Ludovic Alleaume is primarily a portraitist . In 1883, he started the Salon of French artists .
He is the brother of Auguste Alleaume , stained glass specialist. Multidisciplinary artist, he participated in his workshop in
Laval from 1893 to 1937, also working with his other brother Paul (1856-1940), editor-cutter. It also produces wall murals along
with Ladislas Dymkovski , related to his family. It is he who will command the drawings that his brothers and some windows
so he worked with Lecomte and Colin in Rennes, Jacques-Philippe Imberton, Henri Carot , Louis-Charles-Marie
Champigneulle (1853-1905 ) in Paris, Franc¸ois Come`re Brussels Haudecoeur in Lille, and with Pierre-Jules Boulanger
(1833-1911), master glassmaker in Rouen. Many times decorated for his painting, he obtained the Legion of Honour in 1927. He
works as an illustrator for the magazine of Britain, The Journal of Anjou and The Illustrated World. He divides his time
between the boulevard Saint-Germain Paris studio and his brother's workshop. Ludovic Alleaume dies 14 January 1941 in Paris.
